Several Unacademy Learners secured top percentiles in CAT 2021 and made us proud at one of the country’s most difficult competitive exams.

Lakhs of aspirants ready themselves every year to appear for the Common Aptitude Test. The pan-Indian aptitude test decides who gets entry into the country’s most coveted business schools to pursue their MBA. The test examines candidates on their management aptitude and key skills required for managerial positions such as problem-solving, analytical ability, reading comprehension and the like.

An MBA degree from a premiere management institute not only increases an aspirant’s career prospects manifold but also helps them advance in their career. A management and business administration degree is useful for prospective entrepreneurs looking to start their own business endeavours as well. Additionally, of course, Learners who are able to secure admission to these prestigious colleges get the opportunity to interact at close quarters with the best minds of their generation.

We, at Unacademy, are proud to say that several of our Learners qualify CAT with top percentiles every year. 2021 was no different. Over 30 Learners mentored by our Educators managed to secure above 99 percentile in CAT 2021. As many more success stories keep pouring in from every part of the country, we catch up with some of our Learners who expertly paved their way from aspirant to topper. Let’s learn how they achieved this feat and what role Unacademy played in their learning journey.

“I completed my BA in Engineering from BIT Mesra in 2019. Soon after, I started working with an American MNC as a Software Developer. It is here that I realised the need for a management degree. I had attempted CAT 3–4 times before but was not able to get the score I desired. About six months into my job is when I seriously decided to prepare for CAT and ready myself for another attempt. I had qualified XAT around this time but was not able to pass the interview round. Practicing with Unacademy Mock Tests really helped me understand my preparation level and enhance my test-taking ability. In addition, Himanshu Das Sir’s classes were an absolute boon and allowed me to better my verbal ability, which I really struggled with.” — Rahul Singhania, 99.8 percentile

“I wanted to become an entrepreneur from a young age and was always a people’s person. As such, studying for an MBA seemed like the natural way forward. While I worked hard for my CAT preparation and gave my best, I honestly did not expect such good results. I am thankful to Unacademy for providing job-going Learners like me with the flexibility to learn on our own schedule. There were days when there was a lot of work pressure and yet I knew I could not skip learning for CAT. While it was difficult to manage both, I was able to do it by staying motivated and consistent with my learning efforts. Of course, the learning support provided by Unacademy in the form of PDF notes and daily practice questions were also all very helpful.” — Aswini S Kamath, 99.92 percentile

“I started my CAT 2021 preparation from September 2020 but only began to focus seriously on it from around January 2021. This was my very first attempt at CAT, so I started out by trying to learn as much as I could about the exam itself. While I was studying for my BTech degree in TKM College of Engineering, Kerala, I found myself awarded with several positions of responsibility. I soon realized that I had a knack for leadership but needed to hone my problem solving skills. I also knew that I wanted to get into Consulting, so I decided to pursue a course in MBA. Most of the credit for my performance in CAT 2022 goes to Unacademy, as I prepared for the exam exclusively on the platform. I would attend Live Classes, revise with Recorded Sessions and use the time I saved on traveling by learning virtually and efficiently” — Sangeeth K A, 99.82 percentile

“Growing up I had no learning ambitions of my own. I simply followed my parents’ wishes. However, during my engineering days at VIT, I realised I did not want to pursue purely technical job roles. So, in my 3rd year of college, I attempted the CAT for the first time. I belong to a small village in Kerala and here, people do not know a lot about MBAs or CATs. So when I decided to take time off to study for an MBA after completing my engineering degree, I had to face plenty of criticism. People did not understand why an engineering graduate was sitting at home without a job. However, I did not let this demotivate me and continued with my preparation for CAT. I would give a lot of Sectional Tests and struggle with feelings of depression when I would not perform well. Learning with Unacademy, especially Ravi Rodha Sir’s classes for VARC and LRDI, was of immense help. I began to improve in these sections and got my confidence back. The platform would provide annotated PDF notes for download which, again, was an immense blessing. Features such as Doubt Clearing Sessions, Quizzes, Daily Practice Questions etc all came in handy and helped me ace my exams! Thank you Unacademy, for all your learning assistance!” — Vinayak Prabhu SD, 99.82 percentile

“I have been working as a Data Analyst at a consultancy firm. In my work, I noticed that there were a lot of problem statements that needed real world solutions. My manager, with a B-school background, was able to provide these. This is when I decided the need to study a structured course to acquire these problem-solving skills and started preparing for CAT. I sat for the CAT first in 2020 and managed to score 95 percentile without any preparation. So last year, I made up my mind to study well to crack the exam. I started preparing from Jan-Feb 2021. By May-June, I had already completed my syllabus. After this I started giving Mock Tests. My learning strategy was to focus on my strengths, such as Quant, first, and then gradually progress to learning for other sections like VARC. I started learning with Unacademy for CAT right from the beginning of my preparation. The top notch faculty present on the platform and the vast inventory of daily practice questions really helped me ace my CAT 2021 preparation.” — Sumeet Nandi, 99.89 percentile

While our Learners rightly deserve all the accolades and recognition, we would also like to acknowledge the contribution of the Educators who mentored them on this journey. They always walked the extra mile to ensure that our Learners received just the learning support that they needed. Let’s hear what they have to say about the success of their Learners.

“Educators need to be silent supporters for their Learners. I would make it a point to devote the first few minutes of each of my classes to motivating my Learners. I noticed that this helped them work through their insecurities and regain confidence in themselves. Congratulations to all the Learners who scored such outstanding marks in CAT 2021. I’d like to tell them that it’s their time now to be decisive, choose their aim and work towards their goal. Get ready to be the leaders of the next generation!” — Bharat Gupta, Unacademy Educator

It has been an amazing experience mentoring these Toppers throughout the year. Sometimes they feel low and demotivated after scoring low on Mock Tests; motivating them in the sessions besides providing comprehensive content is an integral part of our journey as an Educator. To see them finally succeed, with flying colors, is such a satisfying feeling! Wishing all Learners the very best for their future.” — Ravi Prakash, Unacademy Educator

Stories like these inspire us and remind us that nothing can trump the willingness to learn and the determination to succeed. If you put your heart and soul to working towards your goal, very little can come in the way of you achieving your dreams. Unacademy extends its heartiest congratulations to every Learner who achieved the percentile they had aspired for in CAT 2021.
